WE249-S is an electric airsoft machine gun based on the M249 design. It is a newly designed model from WELL PRO that differs from conventional electric M249s mainly in its unusual drive system and electronic fire control. The gun closely resembles its real-world counterpart, with a construction combining mainly metal parts with polymer components on the handguard and stock. The bipod provides stable support when firing from a prone position or behind cover.

The WE249-S variant differs from the PARA version mainly in its classic fixed stock. Another practical feature is the quick-change barrel, which can be easily removed. A RIS rail on top of the gun allows the mounting of a red dot sight, scope or other compatible accessories. The Hop-Up is adjustable and the inner barrel is 497 mm long.

The drive system uses two motors that work together to power a specially designed gearbox. An electronic unit controls the system, and the gun offers single fire, three-round burst and full-auto fire. Instead of a conventional selector, the firing mode is changed simply by pulling the charging handle. Each pull of the charging handle switches to the next firing mode.

The unique combination of two electric motors and powerful battery supply gives the gun a very high rate of fire. With a 14.8 V battery, it can reach up to 50 rounds per second, or 3000 rounds per minute. With an 11.1 V battery, the rate of fire is approximately 35 rounds per second. Muzzle velocity with the standard spring is 135 m/s. The package also includes two replacement springs for adjusting the gun's power, designated by the manufacturer as 2 J and 3 J. This allows the gun to make full use of its role as a support machine gun.

The gun can use two different types of magazines. The electric box magazine attaches to the bottom of the gun and has a capacity of 2000 BBs. It has its own power supply using two 3.7V Li-Ion 14500 cells. A USB-C charging port is located on the bottom of the magazine. Standard M4/M16 magazines can also be used and are inserted from the side. Both the electric box magazine and an M4 magazine are included in the package.

Another unusual feature is the simulation of ammunition belt movement during firing. An imitation 5.56 mm ammunition belt can be fitted to the machine gun (sold separately under AirsoftPro product code 18563). A lever hidden under the top cover moves during firing, cyclically shifting the belt from side to side. When firing, this creates the appearance of the belt feeding from the magazine into the gun.

The gun is powered by a battery with a T-Deans connector. You can use 11.1V Li-Po batteries, but the gun is also compatible with 14.8V Li-Po batteries. The higher voltage combined with the two electric motors allows for a high rate of fire and fast response of the drive system. The battery is housed inside the fixed stock.

Due to the high rate of fire, adequate BB feeding is important. When using a side-mounted M4 magazine, feeding speed may vary between individual magazines, and at a high rate of fire not every magazine may be able to feed the gun reliably. To make full use of the machine gun's potential, it is therefore recommended to use the original electric box magazine with automatic feeding.
