The Fenix 14500 1050 mAh ARB-L14-1050 (14500) protected rechargeable Li-ion battery is based on lithium-ion technology. Li-ion technology offers one of the best energy-to-weight ratios. These batteries have no memory effect and feature minimal self-discharge.
Battery protection can be divided into two areas. The first involves integrated electronic circuits that prevent overcharging and, conversely, over-discharging the cell, which could otherwise make it impossible to recharge. These circuits also protect the battery against short circuits and excessive current draw, which could damage the battery. If the battery electronics detect that a limit has been reached, they disconnect the cell. The second area includes overheating protection (PTC thermal protection) and a special explosion-proof safety vent. Unlike other vents used in Li-ion batteries, this one separates the electrodes inside the battery if the gas pressure exceeds a certain limit. This effectively interrupts the exothermic reaction and releases excess gas pressure from the battery. Thanks to the combination of electronic and mechanical protection (temperature and pressure), Fenix batteries rank among the safest Li-ion rechargeable batteries available.
The 14500 battery has dimensions similar to a standard AA battery, but its voltage is approximately three times higher. Therefore, it can be used only to power flashlights, headlamps and devices designed to support this higher voltage (e.g. in magazines for WELL WE249-S/PARA machine guns or in the Fenix RC05, Fenix LD09 – 220-lumen version only, Fenix LD11, Fenix LD12 – 320-lumen version only, Fenix LD12R, Fenix LD22 V2.0, Fenix E25 Ultimate Edition flashlights and the Fenix HL35 headlamp).

Warnings
- Charge the battery only with a suitable charger designed for Li-ion rechargeable batteries.
- Do not use this battery as a replacement for a standard 1.5 V AA battery unless the device explicitly supports a 3.7 V Li-ion cell.
- Do not short-circuit the battery (do not connect its terminals with a wire).
- Do not throw the battery into fire or water.
- Protect the battery from mechanical damage and high temperatures.
- Follow Li-ion battery safety guidelines during use and charging.
The 14500 cell has dimensions similar to a standard AA battery, but it is not a direct replacement. The nominal voltage of a Li-ion cell is 3.6 V, compared to 1.5 V for a standard AA battery. Use only in devices designed for 14500 Li-ion cells.
