The Steyr 9 is a series of semi-automatic pistols developed by the Austrian company Steyr Mannlicher GmbH & Co KG for law enforcement and the civilian shooting market. Design work on the new pistol began in the early 1990s, and the final product, known as the M9, was officially introduced in 1999. In 2013, the Steyr M (Medium) and S (Small) pistols were joined by the L (Large) and C (Compact) series, both available in 9×19mm Parabellum and .40 S&W versions as the L9-A1, L40-A1, C9-A1, and C40-A1.

The unconventional Steyr M9-A1 pistol is fully licensed by the Austrian company Steyr Mannlicher. The ergonomic grip, fiber optic rear sight, and Picatinny rail for accessories make this pistol very comfortable with many options for external upgrades.

When it comes to mounting accessories, the M9-A1 features a front lower Picatinny rail for attachments such as a laser or flashlight.

The polymer slide and frame provide a lightweight and balanced configuration, while the ergonomic grip panels and extended beavertail improve grip and control.

The gun is powered by a CO2 cartridge housed in the grip. This is a non-blowback variant—all the power from the CO2 cartridge goes into the barrel, allowing the gun to reach a muzzle velocity of 124 m/s (407 FPS). It uses 4.5 mm BBs as ammunition. The magazine has a capacity of 19 steel BBs.
