Headlamp HM51R Ruby V3.0 860lm, Li-Ion, rechargeable - All Black

Popular rechargeable headlamp Fenix HM51R Ruby All-Black Edition, Third Generation

The limited-edition all-black Fenix HM51R Ruby V3.0 headlamp is manufactured to meet the requirements of the Czech Army. It features a black headband without reflective elements and black rings instead of orange ones.

The third-generation Fenix HM51R Ruby V3.0 delivers up to 860 lumens (ANSI) of neutral white light (4500 K), with a beam distance of up to 140 metres. It is also equipped with red LEDs. The headlamp is powered by one rechargeable RCR123A battery (included), which can be recharged directly in the headlamp via a modern USB-C connector. Alternatively, a disposable CR123A lithium battery can be used, with the maximum output limited to 150 lumens. The control button also features an indicator LED that lets you know when the battery needs recharging.

The end cap is magnetic, allowing the headlamp to be easily attached to any iron or steel surface.

The HM51R offers nine different lighting modes, allowing you to choose between high output and long runtime of up to 125 hours.

The headlamp uses digitally regulated constant current to maintain consistent light output even as battery voltage decreases during discharge.

The all-metal construction provides high durability and efficient heat dissipation. The headlamp is also fully waterproof to the IP68 standard and can be submerged to a depth of 2 metres. Its practicality is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the headband mount and use it as a small handheld flashlight. It also features a removable steel clip for easy attachment to a pocket or strap. The Fenix HM51R V3.0 is an ideal companion for a wide range of sports activities, outdoor trips, household use and work.

The Fenix HM51R Ruby V3.0 is a limited edition based on the Fenix HM50R, offering a range of improvements, including higher white and red light output, increased battery capacity, a warmer light tint, a magnetic end cap, constant output regulation in most modes, additional red-light modes and more.

All flashlight parameters (light output, battery runtime, waterproofness, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Using the HM51R Ruby V3.0

Before first use, check whether a black insulating cap has been fitted over the battery inside the headlamp at the factory. If present, remove it before use.

• When the headlamp is off, press and hold the button for 0.5 seconds to switch it on in the last-used white-light mode.
• When the headlamp is off, quickly double-click the button to switch it on in the last-used red-light mode.
• When the headlamp is on, press and hold the button for 0.5 seconds to switch it off.

When the headlamp is on, short presses of the button cycle through the output modes in the following order: 3 › 50 › 160 › 450 › 860 lumens when using white light, or 1-lumen red light › red flashing › red SOS when using red light. The headlamp has a mode memory and always switches on in the last selected mode, for both white and red light.

Battery Charge Indicator

Briefly press the button while the headlamp is off to activate the indicator LED in the button. A steady green light indicates that the battery is charged to more than 85%. A flashing green light indicates 50–85% capacity. A steady red light indicates 25–50% capacity. A flashing red light indicates that less than 25% battery capacity remains. The indicator works correctly only with rechargeable RCR123A / 16340 batteries.

Charging

Open the rubber cover over the charging port and connect the supplied cable to the headlamp's USB-C connector. Connect the other end of the cable to a computer, power bank or USB power adapter for a wall socket or car (not included). During charging, the side button lights up red; once the battery is fully charged, it turns green. After charging, securely close the charging port with the rubber cover. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 2 hours. In an emergency, the headlamp can also be used while charging, but only the 3- and 50-lumen white-light modes and the red-light modes will be available.

Low Battery Warning

When the battery voltage drops below the set threshold, the headlamp automatically switches to lower output modes. If it is already operating in the lowest output mode and the battery becomes critically depleted, the indicator in the button lights up red and flashes every 3 seconds. The headlamp will continue to operate until the battery is completely discharged. Note: the low-battery warning is calibrated specifically for the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.

Locking the Headlamp to Prevent Accidental Activation

Loosen the battery cap by a quarter turn to interrupt the electrical contact and prevent the headlamp from being switched on. The button can also be locked electronically: while the headlamp is off, press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The light will flash red to confirm that it is locked. To unlock it, press and hold the button again for 3 seconds.

Warnings

• Keep this headlamp out of the reach of children.
• Do not shine the headlamp directly into anyone's eyes.
• Do not disassemble the sealed section inside the head of the flashlight, as this will void the warranty.
• Lock the headlamp or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation when it is stored in an enclosed, flammable environment, such as a pocket or backpack.
• Do not shine the light at flammable objects from very close range, as the high temperature could damage them or create a hazard.
• If using a disposable CR123A battery, do not attempt to recharge it inside the headlamp.
• If the rubber sealing rings become damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent deterioration of the rubber. Following these recommendations will help maintain the headlamp's water resistance.
• If the flashlight flickers, will not switch to higher output modes or fails to turn on, one of the following may be the cause:
  • The battery is almost discharged – recharge or replace it.
  • The contacts inside the flashlight are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab moistened with alcohol.
  • The rear cap is loose – tighten it.
