Brushless motor BASE 45k RPM - long shaft
The Warhead BASE motor is designed to be an entry to brushless technology in airsoft. Brushless DC motors have no brushes to get worn out, they represent a huge leap forward in technology. Brushless output significantly higher efficiency and performance, and have a lower susceptibility to mechanical wear than their brushed counterparts.
To achieve a lower price (but not at the expense of quality), the BASE series has several differences from the BLACK series:
- Cast aluminium case
- Lower performance magnet (not poor quality)
- Machine stator wound - less accurate than hand winding
- The RPM is dropped a little
- Other parts are identical to the BLACK series
This combined with the lower spec magnet and machine wind will see about 15-20% (depending on the set up) than the Warhead CNC BLACK motor. That said this is still well above the best performing Brushed motor on the market by some margin. You still get great trigger response, better efficiency than any brushed motor available and still get super low operating temps just not quite at the level of the fully hand built CNC BLACK version.

WHAT ARE BRUSHLESS MOTORS?
The principle of the brushless DC motor was discovered in 1873 by Zénobe Gramme, and is therefore the oldest type of electric motor. A brushless DC motor consists of a stator and rotor and a commutator with brushes.
The brushless motor is the successor of the brushless DC motor The rotor is made up of permanent magnets (no need to apply an electric current to the rotor). The winding of the stator coils is switched by the control electronics so that a torque is continuously induced on the rotor, i.e. the DC supply is converted to AC by the ESC. This eliminates friction, sparking, excessive heat production and reduces wear on the carbon brushes and commutator. It outperforms the older brush motor in all parameters.
In brushless DC motors is the commutator is replaced by electronic FET switches. Unlike conventional AC synchronous motors, where commutation is provided by an external AC power supply (3 phases), winding commutation (change of current direction) is done electronically. Brushless motors are also referred to as BL (Brushless) or BLDC (Brushless DC).
ADVANTAGES OF BRUSHLESS MOTORS
- Higher torque to weight ratio
- Increased torque per watt of power input (increased efficiency)
- Increased reliability and lower maintenance requirements
- Reduced operational and mechanical noise
- Longer lifespan (no brush and commutator erosion)
- Elimination of ionizing sparks from the commutator (ESD)
- Near-elimination of electromagnetic interference (EMI)
- Easy to fit with no modification or additional wiring required
SETTINGS FOR YOUR MOSFET WHEN USING A WARHEAD MOTOR
- Battery protection / Low voltage detection set to: off
The Warhead motor actually has on board low voltage cut off and over amp draw protection as standard. Low voltage cut off is set as 3.1 Volts per cell and is designed to work intelligently. - Cycle detection set to: on
?As with a brushed motor cycle detection should be activated if there is an option to do so. This will result in optimum performance between the motor and the mosfet when the trigger is pulled. - Pre-cocking set to: off
?For best results pre-cocking should be set to off as this can interfere with the braking cycle of the motor and create undesired results. It is possible to use a small amount of pre-cocking in some cases but for the best uninterrupted operation we recommended turning this setting to off. - Active braking set to: PWM increasing in 20% increments
?The ECS (speed controller) that is built into the back of the motor already assists the motor to stop and start. When combined with high levels of active braking this can result in undesired operation or stuttering. The best way to apply the correct amount of active braking to your AEG when using Warhead motor is to start with this setting set to off.
Warhead Industries
Warhead is part of a Chinese registered company (KO Venture Technologies) with staff hailing from Europe, UK , Australia and China. The manufacturing facility is based in Wuxi China in the Jiangsu province approximately 200 km from Shanghai. Warhead Industries is not simply a motor company. They draw on a multitude of past and present projects from the Electric Vehicle market, to highly technical plastic and carbon mould making industry.
