The SOC is a modern assault rifle from the production of German gunsmith Otto Repa, which is known mainly for its accuracy. Ares, in cooperation with Germans, makes an accurate airsoft replica.
The rifle belongs to the bullpup category as the same as the Austrian AUG. There's an advantage in the barrel lenght, although the weapon itself is still relatively short.
As you touch the weapon, you will notice it's a high quality replica. The metal parts are very well-made and there is no doubt about durability. Also the plastic parts (the ergonomic slim grip and the cheek rest) are made of durable polymer. Next, notice the massive metal flashider and ejection port cover. There's a good-looking imitation of a bolt which covers a hop-up chamber - an Ares standard M4 rotary chamber. By pulling the charging handle, you open the ejection port and you close it by pushing the button which is above the grip. There are also folding sights which you can know from an M4. What's more important, there is a 350mm long RIS rail on the top of the front part for attaching a scope or a red dot sight.
An interesting fact is the laser pointer, which is under the plastic cover at the front part of the handguard. It's powered by two AAA batteries (not included) placed in the grip. You switch the laser on by pressing the square button in front of the trigger guard. There is a bolt release, ambidextrous safety and a fire selector (left side only) near the modern-shaped trigger. Finally, there's a hole for QD sling mounts on both sides of the stock.
The weapon uses standard AR (M4,16 etc.) magazines. One hi-cap is included, it is a popular high-quality plastic magazine, which has an imitation of real ammunition, there's a rough surface for easy grip and a rubber magazine assist.
The battery compartment is under the upper reciever. Unscrew the screw in the front of the front sight, slide the reciever and put the battery inside - the space there is large enough for a 9.6V mini-CQB battery or a 9.6V stick and there is still some space remaining.
This weapon shoots semi auto, 2-round burst and full auto. This is possible because of the ARES EFCS gearbox. It's a special, yet quality gearbox with a processor unit inside. The rest of the parts such as piston and gears etc. is of an AEG standard, so there's a possibility of upgrade. You will like the quick spring change, it's necessary to unscrew an allen screw in the stock and slide the rubber pad only.
The velocity is 128 mps, however, very stabile.
