Emergency blanket (isothermal foil) is a lightweight and foldable polyethylene foil with aluminium and one side gilded. It is used to reduce the heat loss of the human body (up to 90%) especially in first aid.

The foil prevents water loss by evaporation from the body surface and partly by heat radiation. To maximize the effect, it is necessary to wrap the person around, with the tip folded under the legs. The foil does not prevent heat from escaping into the ground. The person should be dressed, covered, insulated from the cold ground by a pad and finally wrapped in foil.
