The Solink V5 Plus motor is a high-quality brushless DC electric motor with adjustable speed capability.

Brushless motors have no brushes to wear out and represent a huge technological leap forward. They have significantly higher efficiency and performance and are less prone to mechanical wear than their brushed counterparts.

The V5 Plus motor supports motor speed adjustment via a separate digital programmer (sold separately) in 1,000 RPM increments with a wide operating range from 10,000 to 46,000 RPM.

Upgrading to the Solink V5 ensures a significant increase in performance - motor power.

WHAT ARE BRUSHLESS MOTORS?

The principle of the brushed DC motor was discovered in 1873 by Zénobe Gramme, making it the oldest type of electric motor. A brushed DC motor consists of a stator, a rotor (armature), and a commutator (rotary switch) with brushes (carbon brushes).

A brushless motor is the successor to the brushed DC motor—the rotor is made of permanent magnets (no need to supply electrical current to the rotor). The stator coil windings are switched by control electronics to constantly generate torque on the rotor, meaning the DC power supply is converted into alternating current by an electronic ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) unit. This eliminates friction, sparking, and excessive heat generation, while reducing the wear found on carbon brushes and commutators. It outperforms the older brushed motor in every single parameter.

Sometimes brushless motors are referred to as AC motors, but technically it is a DC motor where the commutator is replaced by electronic FET switches. Unlike classic AC synchronous motors, where commutation is provided by an external AC network (3 phases), winding commutation (change of current direction) is performed electronically. Brushless motors are also designated as BL (Brushless) or BLDC (Brushless DC).
