Mossberg M500 is a series of shotguns manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. Designed by Carl Benson in 1961, the Mossberg 500 shotgun was created primarily for use by hunters, but its reliability and low cost quickly brought it into use by law enforcement.

The body, forearm, outer barrel and stock are made of durable ABS plastic with a matte finish. Metal are heat shield, imitation of tubular magazine and sling lugs. The butt stock is rubber.

The shotgun uses a 14-BBs magazine that is inserted from the bottom of the gun (similar to sniper rifles). Pulling the forearm toward and away from you - one cycle, the piston inside is cocked and when the trigger is pulled, the shot is fired.

To fire, the entire cycle must be completed - the gun only releases the trigger after the forearm is returned to the forward position. This allows the shotgun to be fired at a rapid rate of fire. Just pull the trigger and "pump". The rate of fire depends only on the speed of the cycles completed.

The advantage of this shotgun is the adjustable hop-up, which significantly improves accuracy and range. Adjustment is via a sliding lever in the ejection window area. Great choice for close-quarters combat or at short ranges. The muzzle velocity with 0.20 g BBs is 105 m/s. The weapon also has a functional safety located near the trigger guard.
