The M40 rifle is a bolt-action sniper rifle used by the United States Marine Corps. It has had four variants: the M40, M40A1, M40A3, and M40A5. The M40 was introduced in 1966. The changeover to the A1 model was completed in the 1970s, the A3 in the 2000s, and the A5 in 2009. The M40A5 incorporates a detachable magazine and a threaded barrel to allow for the use of a sound suppressor or other muzzle device. The original M40 was a military type-classified version of the Remington 700 with a one-piece wooden stock. The M40Ax switched to fiberglass stocks made by McMillan.

The receiver, grooved outer barrel and muzzle break are made of metal. After unscrewing the muzzle break, you can use the 20 mm CW thread to install the AirsofPro adapter to 14 mm thread (not included) and the silencer. Above the receiver is a standard RIS rail for attaching the rifle scope. The included riflescope is metal with 3-9x magnification and 40 mm tube diameter. Of course, high mounting rings (25 mm) and protective caps are also included. Also worth mentioning is the RIS panel, which is located in the front of the gun and you can use it for PEQ 15 imitation or action cameras. The mechanical safety lever can be found on the right side by the bolt handle.

HopUp is set by a lever on the left side of the gun. The two-piece hop-up chamber is metal, as is the trigger mechanism with 45° piston catch and other internal components. The piston and spring guide are made of nylon.
